Recap
2018. The year the Bakery Square Bandidos defend their championship from the previous year. New faces, new home time slot, same results…right??
No. The Bandidos should not have even shown up to this one, as the results were embarrassing. From top to bottom, the Didos were not prepared for this game.
John Friend got the opening day nod for the second straight season, but the results were much different than the previous year. Even with help from the umpire with a pitcher-friendly strike zone, Friend could not keep the ball inside enough on the Bauerstown hitters. Couple that with suspect defense behind him and it was a bad day for #57 on the mound.
Mike Wood was called upon to clean up the mess and he did the best he could, but by the time the 4th inning was over, the Didos surrendered 16 runs.
The Bandidos could not get things going on offense and was only able to get through their lineup a little more than a full cycle.
Is this indicative of what the 2018 season has in store for the Didos? Every team wants to take down the champs this year and because of that the Didos have to step their game up and focus more. Only time will tell.
