Recap
The South Oakland Ducks moved into a new home facility in 2018. Oh is there a starch difference between the Duck Pond and West Field.
Constructed in 1937, West Field was the practice facility and at times the home field for the Homestead Grays. The park was in dire need of renovation for years, but thanks to a local Homestead native things changed.
William V. Campbell Jr, former CEO of Intuit Inc. funded the entire $6 million project. There was no renovation, it was a complete demolition and overhaul.
And now the field is absolutely beautiful and the Bandidos don’t deserve to play there. Yet.
History lesson over.
The Bandidos took on the Ducks Saturday night and it was overall a good/entertaining game. Mike Wood pitched good for the Bandidos, but yet again fell victim to one bad inning of baseball behind him.
Commissioner Joe Graff pitched great for the Ducks, keeping the Didos off balance for the entire game.
The Bandidos threatened in the last inning to score, but could not push one more run across to tie the game.
Didos En El Rio
It is official. The Bandidos are reeling. Frustration is mounting and tempers are flaring, as the Bandidos have not been able to play consistent baseball yet in 2018.
Their record sits at 2-4, but there is plenty of time to make the proper corrections and turn around the season.
There were a couple bad calls in this game with runners being thrown out at second base. Good teams overcome bad calls. The Bandidos are not a good team right now. But they are certainly capable.
Let’s see if the Bandidos are capable of bouncing back Sunday night against D2.
